Sez Bob:
Now, quite a few people can compose compelling melodies. A decent number also can write song lyrics that rise to the level of poetry. However, far fewer perform both tasks equally well, wedding dazzling melodies to haunting lyrics, creating songs so memorable that you know at first hearing that they are destined to become classics.Among those outstanding songwriters even fewer can sing their own compositions — let alone sing them with extraordinary style, flair, and conviction. And among that small, elite group of first-rate songwriter-singers, only a handful accompany themselves with consummate skill on some musical instrument — a piano, or keyboards, or guitar.
But of that tiny handful, how many are equally adept on all of those instruments?
Rose Robbins does it all.
The last time a female vocalist smacked me this hard on first listen, her name was Baez, and it was back in the early sixties.

I’ll have to keep that in mind for Christmas. My father is one of those for whom the world has had a hole in it ever since Peggy Lee died.
Bill, thank you so much! She is fantastic!
I’m going to get the CD. I also wrote a rave email to Jonathan Schwartz, who has a great show on WNYC and XM satellite. She’d be right up his alley, and I’d love for this woman to make the big time.
Folks…you don’t know how big a favor Bill is doing you with this post.
Go here to give a listen. Do NOT stop listening until you’ve at least heard “Stained Glass Window,” “Blue Sky,” “Whisper,” and “Pale Yellow Rose.”
After you do, you will want to hunt me down and kiss my feet for introducing you to Rose Robbins.
But instead, just buy the CD at:
