Consequently, the next six weeks, like the next ten months, are going to be worse than we think. We’re wired to think that everyone plays by the ususal rules of politics — i.e., if the tide starts to change, the side against whom it has turned modifies its positions in order to stay viable in the next election. But what will happen here will be the opposite. You have a party with the numbers to do anything it puts its mind to, led by movement Leftitsts who see their window of opportunity is closing. We seem to expect them to moderate because that’s what everybody in their position does. But they won’t. They will put their heads down and go for as much transformation as they can get, figuring that once they get it, it will never be rolled back. The only question is whether there are enough Democrats who are conventional politicians and who care about being reelected, such that they will deny the leadership the numbers it needs. But I don’t think we should take much heart in this possibility. Those Democrats may well come to think they are going to lose anyway — that’s why so many of them are abandoning ship now. If that’s the case, their incentive will be to vote with the leadership.

The most important and dramatic change in interpreting the history of the American Revolutionary War has come about very recently: the realization that the Americans won because, and insofar as, they were conducting a massive guerrilla war. Alas, I fear Judson may be right. Too many of our fellow citizens are watching American Idol, Survivor, and Lost (three shows I’ve never watched) to pay attention to politics. Have we even rolled back one social program once it has been put in place? Reagan campaigned to abolish the Department of Education. It’s still there. In 230 years we have gone from a nation of rugged individualists to a nation of an apathetic bunch of sheep. Look at the percentage of people who actually vote in elections. I fear for my once great country.

In any revolution only a small part of the population is actively involved. That’s why the rest are called sheeple.
Don’t be so pessimistic, Denny. Even during the Revolution, those actively engaged in resistance were a very small minority. Those who didn’t care one way or another were a much larger minority of America’s 3 million population, but with a current population of nearly 310 million, there are a lot more of them.
The nature of guerrilla war doesn’t consist entirely of a “French Undergound” carrying out covert operations. In the revolution there was a large scale sympathetic movement that embraced small, anonymous acts of support that induced a steady stream of loyalist Tories to move to England throughout the war, convinced in a thousand little ways that they were not welcome in America.
You won’t see whole towns rise up to attack government buildings, but you’ll see individual communities take action locally to chip away at the measures designed to constrain them. Just don’t be discouraged by our contradictions. We may be so obedient that we wait at red lights in the middle of the night, when nobody’s around, but we also view speed limit signs (and many other traffic laws) as suggestions. We’ll come through when we have to.
Time for you to reach down, far behind your weak-kneed stance and pull your pointy lil’ empty head out of your ass, lil’ Judson*.
If it comes to that - I sincerely hope it won’t, but I suspect it might - I think, like Lorenzo and Bill both make reference to, there will be enough to deliver that “guerrilla” action that’s needed.
The other side of that old one about “evil triumphing if good men simply do nothing”, is that evil can be defeated if only a few good men do something.
Every day, in this country, there are just a few more who understand that Gubmint is mostly the problem, almost never any kind of solution - and that not “going along with the program” is sometimes both a necessity and a real smart move. It doesn’t really require “…a committed, principled collection of revolutionaries…”, after all - just a certain percentage of those who’ve had enough, and/or have come to believe that they have nothing really left to lose…

Threepers - The name comes from the historical fact that only about three percent of the American colonists, at any one time, took up arms against British rule.
Wars can be deceptive. I read that on average, during the Nam, only 250 US soldiers (including sailors, airmen, marines) were actually in combat on any given day, for instance.
John Ross’ book “Unintended Consequences”, among other things, predicts a revolution method I think very plausible, and likely. I also think every American should read it.
Lastly, I really, really hope it doesn’t come to that, or another secession attempt like the last one. And not just because I will be unlikely to survive it. 700,000 (Civil War) dead will seem like a skirmish compared to what we could do with modern, civilian owned weapons today.
One must also remember that Washington brought Von Steuben to his rag-tag American army to teach it European fighting methods - to drill it in the order of arms. So must we learn the art of war against the Liberal hordes, being wise to their tactics and employing what we will to preserve the Republic. Keep in mind it was a charging line of bayonets not muskets firing from a distance that struck fear and caused soldiers to break ranks and flee.

I recently watched the John Adams mini-series. I grew depressed thinking that now one couldn’t find 3 people in Massachusetts that would fight for freedom. Days later, Dead Ted’s seat was filled by a republican. That was heartening.
We will see what November brings. Perhaps the status quo will stand, perhaps republicans will gain some seats, perhaps Obama will be a lame duck by the end of the year. Whatever happens, I really don’t think that armed conflict is likely nor wise. The government is very well armed and Washington is controlled by liberals who are just a hairbreadths distant from fascists. It’s going to be interesting, that’s for sure.

The movement Left, as cited in the Corner article, is willing to preach a “damn the torpedos, full speed ahead over the cliff” approach because most of them (other than the ones who will lose their next election and have to become lobbyists to make a living) have no real skin in the game. The academics, MSM, various elitists and apparatchiks continue to do well in life whether BambiCare passes or not, and whether the Democrats lose in November or not.
So the movement Left is indeed willing to push “by any means necessary” to get BambiCare through so as to create a permanent, center-left, authoritarian-lite style of governance in which they are the ones who set the agenda. The results can be seen in David Cameron’s Tories in Britain, who merely plan to make all the government Britain has more efficient, not to have less government in the first place.
“By any means necessary”: any history student knows that is how the Roman Republic fell. From the Gracchi Brothers to Gaius Marius to Sulla to Pompeius Magnus to Julius Caesar, each was willing to do what they did by any means necessary. The result was Octavian, though at any point in that hundred year march you would have been hard-pressed to prove it.
The movement Left wants to get rid of the American republic and start another one. BambiCare is a necessary step. They’ll do it by any means necessary.
It may be true that no social program has ever been rolled back and that every government employee is still there.

Not all battles involve conventional soldiers and weaponry. If every small businessman calculated his financial hit under new legislation,he could perhaps justify shutting down his business and laying off his employees for an equal loss. So to you all who follow each political blip, and struggle to place it into proper perspective, I say “Thank You!” But don’t think that I’m not paying attention, just because I don’t get as worked up as you do.
I’m watching. Most of us who carry our own weight in this country are watching closely. We are lightening our financial obligations, selling stuff that distracts us, getting our families and those we love “ready.” Above all, we want to be able to move quickly when necessary.
I am one of the 50% of Americans who carry both myself and the other half who don’t pull their own weight. Do you think I am falling for that “compassion” crap that says I have to keep working hard to carry the deadbeats just so they won’t have to pull their own weight? Get real.
There is a time and place for everything. When I see my way clear to, shall we say, ENCOURAGE the deadbeats to grow up, I shall not hesitate. Whatever it takes, I shall not hesitate.

Arming platoons is but one aspect of the game.
Another is keeping those platoons busy. That is to say, do your detective work now rather than later, in regard to worthy subjects and targets in your area of operations. This is no less essential than drilling in arms.

Also ALL of you need to read “Civil War II” by Thomas Chittum. Especially EXORDIUM. If there is mass civil disturbance in this country it won’t be just left vs. right. You will have to deal with gangs and ethnicities also. Haves vs. have not’s.
Just take a look at the number of gang members of all types in this country and then the number of police. Figure that about only 25% of the police are street capable, the rest being admin types. How many of that 25% have actually fired their weapon in a life or death situation? How many of the gang members done that? Are the LEO’s up for it? Then ask yourself how the gangs are armed. Gun control only works for the law abiding.
There is a list of things towards the end of the book that need to come about before CWII happens. You will be amazed / frightened at how far along that list we are. Don’t forget to look at the pub date of the book. Chittum was a bit prophetic.

Though there are exceptions, and far too many have no idea of the meaning of the oath they took, they’re largely a very patriotic bunch of people and will soon see the evil they’re ordered to perpetrate. Most won’t participate for long on the side of evil.
Though I pray every day for - and work diligently to help bring about - a peaceful restoration, I no longer believe it is possible. Our would-be Masters in DC and the REAL Masters with their hands up said puppets’ backs - have other plans and they NEED a collapse/revolt/etc. as an excuse for implementing them. If they don’t get one they’ll pull a Gulf of Tonkin or other such false-flag “incident” to get things rolling.
I too don’t expect to survive what is coming, but I’d rather die on my feet fighting evil than live on my knees licking the hand that beats me. As my Ancestor said:

Exordium’s mouth is obviously writing checks his ass can’t cash, but if you talk to enough left-collectivists, they really expect that “the government” will in the end force their will upon the rest of us. They extrapolate from their own cowardice and assume that if “the government” issues an order, we will meekly submit, as they would. Remember they have no principles in the end that they are willing to die for themselves, although they are perfectly willing to see other people in government employ do so.
This is why Oath Keepers scares them so badly. The prospect of soldiers and police THINKING about the constitutionality of their orders introduces strategic uncertainty into the minds of the wannabe tyrants. “If I issue the order, will it be obeyed? Or will they turn their rifles on me?”
In the event, I rather suspect that the military will attempt to sit it out, letting the “civilians” sort things out. At least, they will if our side does not resort to Fort Sumters, OKC bombings or blindly striking out at the military itself.
No, I rather think that if a 4th generation warfare campaign, initiated only after deadly violence from the other side cedes us the moral high ground, and targeted Clinton-like at the war makers, the tyrants and their media and philosophical cheerleaders (see Serbia, 1999) and not the footsoldiers doing their bidding, the conflict would be over in record time for a civil war.
Indeed, we could probably avoid this conflict entirely if we could but persuade Exordium and his pals in government that such a course would lead to their immediate deaths. Unfortunately we have not even seen fit to use Sons of Liberty tactics against them — breaking their windows, tar and feathering, etc. — so they find our growling to be not credible.
It is our fault we have not shoved back over these past 75 years. Our backs are now to the wall. We recognize that, but the enemies of the Founders Republic do not. It is unfortunate that the only epiphany they will likely experience is when, God forbid the necessity, a 150 grain thirty caliber slug penetrates their tiny, tyrannical minds at considerable velocity and exits the other side.
May God have mercy on their heathen souls, but in any case, may God save the Republic.

These people are serious. They have had enough. They have resolved to back up no further in regards to the never ending encroachment on their rights.

Read all the posts and it seems clear that the leftist, progressive, commies are clueless. They view the world though their own eyes, incapable of understanding that not everybody sees things as they do.
Furthermore they seem to believe their being rescued by the cowardly government who risk only what is not theirs; they re-define cowardice.
Arrogance is the last character trait I noticed. So the old among us are incapable of defending this country.
As mentioned above, many of us possess skill sets that are very useful regardless of age. Our collective wisdom, knowledge, and morality pose, formidable problems that need to be overcome.
Last I reiterate what has been wisely mentioned above; many of us have nothing to loose; that alone should concern any person with an IQ above 60.
Those who may have something to loose generally fear not death and are willing to stand at any cost, in opposition to tyranny that is upon us.
Perhaps we made a mistake in the past tolerating tyrannical abuses. We have learned from our mistakes however and will not repeat this.
As for the leftist, commie, progressives, they cannot seem to help themselves, seemingly pushed onward by the demonic force that is their soul. So too will they reap what they have sown.
