EXCLUSIVE: Fort Hood suspect contacted Muslim extremists - Washington Times
Fort Hood shooting suspect Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan had been in contact with numerous Muslim extremists — some of whom are under federal investigation — before last week’s rampage, two U.S. officials told The Washington Times on Wednesday.
Maj. Hasan made some of the contacts while visiting known jihadist chat rooms on the Internet, according to one of The Times’ sources, a senior FBI official. He said that several people with whom Maj. Hasan was in contact had been the focus of investigations by the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force.
The other source, a military intelligence official, said those in contact with Maj. Hasan are located both in the U.S. and overseas. The official said they are “broadly known and characterized as Islamic extremists if not necessarily al Qaeda.”
Shameful, shameful, shameful.
Not Jihadi Nidal Malik Hasan. He was just wreaking the sort of barbarian savagery his religion requires of him. No, I’m talking about the PC bureaucrats within and outside the military, the intelligence agencies, and all those who helped enable Jihadi Hasan’s bloody, treacherous, treasonous attack. I think every one of them should stand trial on charges of aiding and abetting a war crime.

I heard on the radio this morning (on NPR, of all places) that Hasan’s performance had been poor for years and he got some performance counseling. But nothing bad happened to him, and he got promoted again, because none of his superiors wanted to be accused of religious bias.
There is no creature on Earth more gutless than a career Military officer. They’re made to be that way on purpose, to keep them and the Military under civilian control. But it’s gone too far, for too long.
John, while I agree with the thrust of your post, the proper term for these creatures is not “Military Officer”. It’s “careerist”. Many of us are not afflicted with this disease, although we are also not destined for high rank.
Fred’s right. Neither he nor wes fit the template you are using, John. I don’t think they are the exception that proves the rule, either.
It’s just that the military is as political as any other bureaucracy, and those that reach high office/rank are usually politicians first and foremost.
I thought I made it clear I was talking about the careerists. My apologies to the soldiers who thought I was referring to them.
