Islam is “not responsible” for the bloodbath at an army base in Texas where Muslim-American army Major Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly gunned down 13 people, the prayer leader at the mosque where the officer regularly worshipped said Friday.
Right. If he’d been a devout Methodist, this would have happened anyway.
Of course Islam is responsible for this - and for all the rest of the horrors wreaked in its name for the last millennium and a half.

Not so fast, Bill. I think he’s right. “Islam”, as a concept, is no more responsible for deaths than is the concept “blue”.

That’s like saying communism and socialism get a free pass, and that we should solely blame it on the “adherents”. Nonsense - but a warm, fuzzy nonsense that sounds good and makes you feel like a reasonable person.
Islam is not simply a religion, it is not simply a system of governance - it is both, combined with blueprints for violent and nonviolent expansion.

I subscribe to the .. opinion? … that some systems of thought are like viruses, in that once they’re loose they can spread themselved quickly, wreak havoc, and be hard to kill.
That’s why I brought up some of the -isms; look at the lasting attraction of socialism to those who are attracted to bright, shiny, utopian worldviews.
