Ft. Hood suspect reportedly shouted `Allahu Akbar’ - Yahoo! News
Military officials were trying to piece together what may have pushed Hasan, an Army psychiatrist trained to help soldiers in distress, to turn on his comrades. Cone said the 39-year-old Hasan was not known to be a threat or risk.
“I’m not aware of any problems here,” said Col. Steve Braverman, the Fort Hood hospital commander. “We had no problems with his job performance.”
Two factors at work in crap like these statements: First, following the official government line that Islam, the Religion of Peace, could not possibly be the cause of atrocities like this one. Second, pure ass-covering of the most bureaucratic sort. You don’t expect these military functionaries to admit that Hasan’s increasingly deranged focus on Islam could have been a problem that needed their action in response.

Who could have imagined such a thing? Whether you’re talking about flying an airplane into a building, a hurricane hitting a below-sea-level coastal city, or a supporter of America’s enemies shooting up Americans, it’s simply inconceivable.
Which means…what, exactly? He showed up for work on time, wore the uniform of the day correctly, filled out all the paperwork properly and filed it correctly? Didn’t foam at the mouth visibly while in the presence of superior officers? Was not seen on post wearing black robes, brandishing a Koran in one hand and a blood-dripping knife in the other, chanting “Death to the infidels!”?
Let’s see - he:
- Expressed, on a number of occasions and in the hearing of (or directed to) others his delight in seeing/hearing about attacks on U.S. military personnel by terrorists.
- Spoke passionately and openly on multiple occasions about his opposition to the wars “against Islam” in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- Voluntarily (allegedly) undertook additional, advanced weapons training, even though he was not a combat veteran, nor was he in a combat branch or specialty.
- Pretty clearly, based on his own statements and actions, valued “the will of Allah” and “the word of Islam” above the judgment and direction of the U.S. military, despite the oaths he swore as a U.S. Army officer.
No…no problems there, whatsoever…
CYA bullshit, big time.
and so the ass covering begins.
