Space Solar Power: The Next Frontier?

Now PG&E is extending that approach to tap renewable energy at an entirely new level: solar power in space.

PG&E is seeking approval from state regulators for a power purchase agreement with Solaren Corp., a Southern California company that has contracted to deliver 200 megawatts of clean, renewable power over a 15 year period.

Excellent. And if the 200MW of radio frequency energy were to somehow drift away from the receiver grid and onto Putrid Pelosi’s Palace in Pacific Heights, that would be even excellenter.

Except…the way this would work is, the satellite would capture sunlight and send it to earth. Depending on what orbit they use, some or all of this sun power would otherwise have missed the earth. This means that PG&E and Solaren will be pumping additional heat into an already fragile planet, tipping the balance to inevitable, catastrophic Global Warming. Those bastards!
