Dozens march for Mixon, against police

(03-25) 20:36 PDT Oakland — About 60 people marched and rallied in Oakland on Wednesday to condemn the police and honor Lovelle Mixon, who was killed by Oakland police after he fatally shot four officers Saturday.

The local cops were not amused.

    I hope the cops took plenty of pictures - you can bet that a percentage of those “about 60″ were some of his criminal buds…

    “OPD you can’t hide - we charge you with genocide,” chanted the demonstrators as they marched along MacArthur Boulevard, near the intersection with 74th Avenue where Mixon, 26, a fugitive parolee, gunned down two motorcycle officers who had pulled him over in a traffic stop.

    I’m no big-city journalist — I’m just a simple country mathematician — but isn’t that sort of sentence best broken into multiple sentences? Perhaps two, in this case?
    Still, it’s nice to see some support for individual rights. “The smallest racial, political, or cultural group on earth is the individual,” after all.

    The protest was organized by the Oakland branch of the Uhuru Movement, whose flyers for the march declared, “Stop Police Terror.”

    Odd that they don’t give any additional information about this “Uhuru Movement.” Of course, it’s a local paper, not a national one, so it could be that the intended audience already knows that “[t]he African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) is the organization that built and leads the Uhuru Movement.“
