Someone thought it would be a good idea to get chickens. Now guess who gets to build a coop and run.
I thought you all might like to see Victoria’s reaction.
BTW I used the Canon SX110 IS for the video.

Aww that was cute. What a cute dog. I have one that is similar in size and shape, but she looks like she has a pitbull head and coloring.
Chickens are fun. The freshness of the eggs will spoil you and chicken poop is a terrific soil amendment for your garden, so build the coop high enough so the droppings gather underneath on something that makes it easy to cart away. My coop sits on a sheet of scrap aluminum sheet metal. A bag of lime (same stuff you use on your lawn) to sprinkle over droppings occasionally in the summer to keep down flies is useful, as well as some straw (or shredded leaves) to mix with it. Fun 4H project for young ‘uns, too. There should be something for them to roost on - a broom handle, elevated a few inches off the bottom of the cage/coop works fine.
Check with your county Cooperative Extension office (it’s free) for advice and literature, if you need it, or to find nearby 4H programs to join.
