Why do you still use the image of the twin towers? time for a change I think.
That question is exactly why the image is still there.
The hole in Manhattan is still there.
The leaders are mostly still there.
The paymasters are still there.
The isolationists are still there.
The dumbasses who think it was all Bush’s fault are still there.
The dumbasses who think it was all America’s fault are still there.
The dumbasses who want to just Move On are still there.
The dumbasses who Hope for a big Change are still there.
The threat is still there.
Note that I’m not Bill, and he’s well able to put words into his own mouth. But I’ve been reading DP almost since the beginning and think I have a feel for the place.
Side note to ’sky’: I edited this post extensively to remove the vitriolic beat-down that was my first response. Pending further information or provocation, I’ll assume you asked an honest question. Sad to say, but many of us have forgotten, Obama is already offering to forgive, and those two shameful facts ensure that it WILL happen again.
I’m with ’sky’, maybe it is time for a change.
Instead of the current static picture, it could rotate among a set of 9/11 images to make it more noticeable to frequent DP visitors.
The image could include the attack against the Pentagon as well as the WTC, and perhaps the Flight 93 crash site.
Maybe at the anniversary of 9/11 it should include the “falling man” photo.

Yes, well, obviously that’s why the masthead picture (and other similar ones) are still important - like I said, helps to focus on what’s important.
Even given the present state of affairs, too much forgetfulness where those kind of pictures are concerned - especially on the part of the people currently in charge, and the people who helped put them there - can all-too-easily bring about a whole new set of pictures like that, only maybe worse.
