Obama to Unveil an Ambitious Budget Plan

Republicans, who are already painting Obama as a profligate spender, are laying plans to attack him on taxes as well. Even some non-partisan observers question the wisdom of announcing a plan to raise taxes in the midst of a recession. But senior White House adviser David Axelrod said in an interview that the tax proposals reflect the ideas that won the election last fall.

The notion that Obama won the election of 2008 on his “ideas” (which were non-existent) is ludicrous. He won because he’s glib, black, and because of the extremely high levels of Bush hatred on both the left and the right. BDS brought out the leftists in droves, and right-wing loathing for Bush’s botch of the war on terror and his party’s big-spending and other RINO ways left many conservatives sitting at home on election day. The fact that the market cratered in the six weeks leading up to the election didn’t help much, either.
