We’re All Going to Die! Just not quite as soon as we said.
February 19th 2009 Junk Science

From the National Snow and Ice Data Center, the people who told us the North Pole would be as bald as Britney Spears’s head by summer:

Satellite sensor errors cause data outage

As some of our readers have already noticed, there was a significant problem with the daily sea ice data images on February 16. … Upon further investigation, we discovered that starting around early January, an error known as sensor drift caused a slowly growing underestimation of Arctic sea ice extent.

If you read the thing, it’s a bunch of self-justifying BS. Bottom line, their published doomsaying reports worst-cased everything and didn’t take into account contradictory data. (They don’t put it quite that way, of course.) And they don’t budge their prediction of massive ice decline except to admit it won’t happen quite immediately.

Bah. Ignore anything the dumbasses say henceforth. Once a liar, always a liar.
