Ben Smith’s Blog: Obama allies attack GOP leadership - Politico.com
The labor-backed, pro-stimulus group Americans United for Change and the public workers’ union AFSCME are going up with a national cable spot, also airing in Washington D.C., with the sharpest attack yet on Republican leaders in the House and Senate.
“Our economy in crisis. Millions out of work. That’s why 80 percent of Americans support a plan like President Obama’s to create jobs. But Republican leaders? They’re ‘just saying no,’” says the ad’s narrator. “No to changing the failed economic policies of the past 8 years. We’re in an economic crisis and Republican leaders are playing politics instead of doing what’s right. Call the Republican Leadership – Tell them NO is not an option.”
Would those be the policies espoused by Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Senator Sometimes Barack Obama, when their party controlled both houses of congress, and the government’s purse strings?

To me, this is what illustrates that the dems know full well this thing’s not going to keep the economy from cratering. Now that it’s passed the senate, they don’t need even one republican’s vote to pass the thing. If it really was what was best for America, they’d pass it and take all the credit. Instead, they’re trying to get some republicans to sign on in an attempt to avoid having to take all the blame.
I don’t think so. I think it’s just PR, trying to give the GOP bad press, they’re going to pass it anyway but may as well try to stain the GOP. In the long run it will only work for the voters already in the tank for them.
Maybe later they’ll try, “if only we had passed the stimulus sooner.”
Imagine my shock: the White House was told in advance.
When Porkulus Maximus fails (I almost started of with “if” - but there’s no point in doing that) to “save” most of the citizenry’s taxed-to-the-bone butts, the Donks will already have their whole series of excuses (read: lies) already laid out. The theme will be one or a combination of the following:
1) The delay in passing Porkulus was too great, due to the Bush Admin/the Eeevil Rethuglicans/the phases of the moon, etc…
2) Porkulus wasn’t large enough - due to the Bush Admin/the Eeevil, etc…
3) We were unable to properly apply the provisions of Porkulus - due to the Bush Admin/the, etc…
4) There hasn’t been sufficient time for the full effect of Porkulus (read: we haven’t Hoovered-up all of the available “juice” in the economy yet) - due to the Bush Admin, etc…
The remedy, of course, will be:
Give us another Porkulus Maximus - preferably even bigger than the first one - instantly, if not sooner…
That “national cable spot” is just The Obamanation’s “fellow travelers” getting in a few gratuitous kicks to the teeth of those mean ol’ Rethuglicans, while misrepresenting the desire of 80% of the populace (everyone else) to help subsidize a chunk of the other 20% (them and all their union buddies) to ride out the recession/depression high on the Porkulus hog.
They don’t care anything about “share the blame” - they’ve never accepted any measure of blame when their shitty share-the-wealth-as-long-as-we-get-it-all policies have failed to help before; they’ve no intention to accept any blame when this lead balloon crashes, either.
The Demonrats and their faithful minions have had around a half-century to practice their avoidance of responsibility for Gubmint’s failures. Even when caught with both fists full in the cookie jar, it’s always someone else’s fault. That’s their default position - it’s “de-fault” of somebody else, usually the nearest Rethuglican.
