Honeymoon Over?
February 4th 2009 Media, General, Obama, Afghanistan

Check out Newsweek’s cover story. Obama’s Vietnam. Interesting choice of words. Not exactly fair to the Won, but then calling Vietnam Nixon’s war wasn’t fair to him either. Perhaps instead of being Carter II, the Won will end up being Nixon Lite.
Now that I think about it. Didn’t Nixon try to force congress to do things his way too? Of course the press hated Nixon and they worship the Won. At least they did. Any more headlines like this and I would have to say that the bloom is off the rose.

sometimes clichés come true, and, especially lately, it seems that the war in Afghanistan is shaping up in all-too-familiar ways. The parallels are disturbing: the president, eager to show his toughness, vows to do what it takes to “win.” The nation that we are supposedly rescuing is no nation at all but rather a deeply divided, semi-failed state with an incompetent, corrupt government held to be illegitimate by a large portion of its population.

I didn’t know we were trying to rescue the EU

The enemy is well accustomed to resisting foreign invaders and can escape into convenient refuges across the border. There are constraints on America striking those sanctuaries. Meanwhile, neighboring countries may see a chance to bog America down in a costly war. Last, there is no easy way out.

Fixed it for them.
The only way out is to follow the terrorists where ever they go and kill them all. No matter who’s toes get stepped on in the process.
