My Way News - GOP leaders doubt stimulus bill will pass Senate
“I am confident that by the time we have the final package on the floor that we are going to see substantial support, and people are going to see this is a serious effort. It has no earmarks. We are going to be trimming out things that are not relevant to putting people back to work right now,” Obama said.
The problem with political language is that it is designed to obscure, not enlighten. In this case, “no earmarks” does not equal “no pork.”
I blame the overall dumbing down of the American people. In order to try to pierce the thick blanket of rational ignorance which surrounds most Americans, rational discussion is compressed into a brief code that fits into a ten-second sound-bite. Hence, “earmark” and “pork” become synonymous. Now, while it may be true that most earmarks are, indeed, pork, it is not true that all pork is also an earmark of some sort. This pig-meat bailout is a perfect example.

It’s been setting my teeth on edge every time the collaborators in the MSM announce this bloated, rotten 2009 Omnibus Spending bill, i.e. the whole Federal Budget, now 50% fatter, as a “stimulus package.” The same people who scream for truth in advertising on every last milligram of tar in a cigarette, every last droplet of trans-fat in a cookie, blindly accept total falsehood in packaging when it comes to the Biggest Theft of All Time. Infuriating.
On last week’s radio show I predicted 30-35 GOP votes in the Senate for the ’stimulus’…to some disbelief.
“Watch your future end” was the phrase the Borg used…
George Mason University colleague Professor Richard Wagner wrote:
“In stimulus package language, if Congress taxes to hand out money, one person is stimulated at the expense of another, who pays the tax, who is unstimulated. A visual representation of the stimulus package is: Imagine you see a person at work taking buckets of water from the deep end of a swimming pool and dumping them into the shallow end in an attempt to make it deeper. You would deem him stupid. That scenario is equivalent to what Congress and the new president proposes for the economy.”
And I deem the emperor and his cult followers either stupid or enemies of the state….and probably both.
GUYK, that was worth a ‘heh’ from me. That said, I’d enhance it by saying “taking buckets of water from the deep end of a swimming pool, sloshing more than half of the water on the ground, and dumping them into the shallow end in an attempt to make it deeper.” The tyrannical parasites in government want to make sure you forget to notice their cut. Don’t let them get away with it.
Fixed that for you.
Sunday The One said to Matt Lauer that he would work with the Senate and would be able to sign a bill with “no pork.” Pork, earmarks, whatever you call it, this guy thinks he is still campaigning, and also believes that he will never be called to account for his promises and lies.
The mainstream media will never reveal the mendacity of their man in the White House. The GOP needs a dynamic spokesman really soon, to make the case directly to the people. Maybe Michael Steele will become that guy, since there are no senators with the gift of gab, or real leadership potential, that can compete with the Commander in Thief.
Love ‘em or hate ‘em, the republicans are the only thing standing between We the People and bondage.
I didn’t know they made shit sandwich-flavoured Kool-Aid.
You must be too young to remember Fizzies.
Mike, that is not a statement that gives one much of a secure feeling…
You may be right, currently. Amazing how fast the GOP mainstream has realigned their message at the end of the Bush era.
But, you know, I voted for Bush in 2000 just because of your way of thinking, and he and his cronies let me down, big
timegovernment, tax cuts are great but increased spending makes it meaningless, “deregulation” was ruined by corporate welfare to the financial sector, the consequences not coming home to roost.Yes, I know, the Democrats are much to blame too. Blame legacy Clinton policies, blame Barney Frank, blame 9-11 if you like, even consider blaming the Bush takeover of the GOP, but no matter what excuses you make, this does not change that the GOP sucked out. They promised us fiscal responsibility and gave us morphine instead. Withdrawal’s a bitch.
Should I start voting for the GOP again? Or is that “fool me twice, shame on me?”
Fixed it for me.
