WHERE’S FEMA? Nearly 1M without power 5 days after ice storm.
“Where’s FEMA?” is not the appropriate question. The appropriate question is, “Where is the mainstream media, screaming in one united voice, that the absence of FEMA demonstrates the utter fecklessness and failure of the current President and all his policies?”
Plus his barely concealed racism, of course.
UPDATE: Welcome, Instapundit readers! Also, Anchoressians and the Coldly Furious.

Where’s Kanye or Wanye or whatever his name is. Clearly, “Barack Obama doesn’t like white people.”
As someone in the area affected by Katrina (but not on the coast or in NOLA), I will now be an asshole and say they choose to live there…
What’s more is there is a federal warehouse full of badly needed chainsaws at the Boise Airport at the Boise Fire Center. Those saws should already be on the ground in the hands of the Guard.
Nothing assholish about that at all, Adam. As a former resident of Indiana, Chicago, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, and Colorado - all places where neither winter nor ice storms nor power outages are at all mysteries or even, really, unexpected, if you have the sense god gave a goose you pay attention, and you keep things on hand to ride out cold snaps, power outages, and ice storms. And if you are so stupid as to be unable to figure this out, why should anybody pay too much attention to your outrage, and why do you think you have a claim on everybody else to bail you out of the results of your own idiocy?
I object to calling it the “mainstream media”. The relationship between our self-annointed moral and intellectual betters in the media and the Messiah’s government is far too close to distinguish one from the other.
Heck with FEMA! Where’s Sean Penn? I want Spicoli out there with a dogsled full of provisions, yesterday! Capeesh?
Or YGB, to tell us what a rotten president we have.
Obama is heating the White House to the degree that aides quip he could grow orchids in there, meanwhile people in Kentucky have no power, no heat and are freezing to death by the dozens and FEMA has still not resolved the issue.
Where is the media outrage?
Oh, and lets not forget the Obama gem: “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK.”
Sean Penn? Hell, where’s Geraldo Rivera? No little old ladies’ poodles to rescue? Twice?
Still looking for Al Capone’s loot.
Why didn’t I see it sooner! The media and dems are ignoring freezing and dying people because they can’t allow anything to detract from Stupid Bowl Weekend. Mostly can’t have anything adversely affecting the ad revenue. Obviously those dying didn’t vote for the One, hence they are superfluous and so mean nothing in the Great Scheme.
Don’t forget Occam’s Razor, where Occam cut himself shaving and blamed it on the displeasure of the Gods, only to have his wife suggest he sharpen the blade. The simplest explanation is the best.
After the Norwalk quake in L.A., workers from utility companies all over the country descended (via LAX) on the stricken area, and had power and phone service restored, and water and natural gas breaks repaired even before the damage assessment came in. The utilities had cooperative agreements to cover disasters.
Look at your local utility companies. They’ve been laying off workers or not replacing retirees. Getting your own utility to send out a repairman now takes much longer.
Those cooperative agreements depend on utilities having workers/repairmen to spare, and they just don’t have them, leaving the stricken utility to do the best they can with what they’ve got, which isn’t enough for more than routine maintenance - local utilities now contract out for major projects.
We’re going to see more and more of this - in fact we have: an ice storm in early December clobbered western Massachusetts and left Pittsfield without power for over two weeks. If you think we’re unprepared for a disaster or major terrorist event, you’re wrong. We’re woefully unprepared.
