We talk a good game about going back to the conservative grassroots and rebuilding the GOP from the ground up, but all too often it’s nothing more than talk.
Well, here’s one point where the rubber hits the road. Ms. Pulido is a conservative woman who says, in her own words:
* I am pro-family
* I support the 2nd amendment
* I will work to secure our borders and end illegal immigration
She is running in the special election to replace Rahm Emanual, the radical leftist Chicago pol who is currently employed as Barack Obama’s enforcer-in-chief.
What a message it would send to replace him with a conservative! She needs our help. Any bit will do. Click the link and give her ten or twenty bucks, whatever you can spare. I did.
And pass the word. Do we really want to see a conservative return? Or are we nothing more than hot air and fury, signifying nothing?
UPDATE: Welcome, Instapundit readers! Click HERE to help Ms. Pulido take Rahm’s old seat.

How about a link to where we can donate? I’ll use google and find http://www.rosannapulido2009.com/
Sigh.
I said, “Click the link,” bse5150. If you do so, it takes you to the same place your link does. But I don’t care, my link, or yours, just so people use them.
Done and Done, and thanks for the tip.
I loved this bit:
I’m in Rahm’s district, so I can (and will) vote in this special election. After I take a peek at Ms. Pulido’s platform, she might get my vote.
I’d hit the donation link if I weren’t in such dire straits (heh) right now. I gave all my dough to Fred Thompson!
Can she win the district formerly represented by Rostenkowski, Blago & Emmanuel? If so, great, I will give money. If not, my limited resocurces are better placed elsewhere.
Please present a credible scenario in which she can win a district that votes 2-1 Democrat in presidential elections and has been represented by a Republican only two of the last 102 years.
She damn sure won’t win if not supported, it may be a long shot with poor odds, in this case though “if you don’t bet you can’t win” is quite apt. Besides you can always try to get your money back through TARP.
So, George, your resources are so limited you can’t spare the price of a six-pack unless you’re betting on a sure thing?
Hey, bud, you’re part of the problem, not part of the solution. And you know what? Sure things don’t need any help from you.
Hot air and fury, signifying nothing.
Any real conservative fighters out there?
For George, and those like him:
Obama Smiles by Andrew C. McCarthy on National Review Online
Fight. Don’t let them think a single seat is safe.
When the Gingrich revolution occurred, seats that had been Democrat for generations suddenly went to the GOP. But you get nothing if you don’t fight for it, or if you concede defeat before you even start.
I’m with Bill on this one. It’s good to support candidates who support things you belive in. I just made a contribution.
What was the name of that guy who did all that tilting at windmills?
Oh yeah. Don Quixote, right?
I’m thinking she’s changing her name to Rosanna Quixote.
Thanks for your usual insightful and penetrating comment, Paul. It is work like this that has garnered you such a blogosphere-wide reputation.
A “national” party that voluntarily concedes its irrelevance or incapacity in any demographic or region is begging for permanent minority status. If the GOP permits itself to become the party of the Confederate remnant plus the evangelical Churches, it will not long remain relevant or viable.
So what if Mrs. Pulido doesn’t win? We believe that liberty and limited government are beneficial for everyone over the long run. We need to be fighting for the hearts and minds of all Americans, not just the ones who already mostly agree with us! The people who need to hear the message of liberty the most are the ones who have heard it least - the inhabitants of the urban vote plantations that the city machines maintain as captives to keep power.
They said slavery would last forever. They said segregation would last forever. Should we believe that the Daley machine, and those like it, will last forever? Or should we do everything we can to awaken and enlighten the captives of the urban machines? So what if it doesn’t work the first try? If we succumb to apathy, we’re doomed.
At least some of the Democrats understand this. Their 50 state strategy didn’t work everywhere, but they flipped a number of House seats that were formerly not considered competitive. Those of us who oppose the Democrats, whether we’re GOP members or not, have to do likewise. We’ve got to challenge Democrats in places where they’re not used to being challenged, and support candidates compatible with our views no matter where they live.
Rosanna Pulido is brave enough to challenge the Daley machine. Show her some love and support. Even if she loses, the fact that we’re willing to put money into non-traditional GOP districts could help inspire additional challengers come 2010.
Just donated.
I have no idea if she has any shot but how beautiful would it be take away Emmanuel’s seat.
Lest we forget, Anh “Joseph” Cao won New Orleans’ congressional district this past December. Admittedly, having a hurricane destroy your city, thus totally upsetting “business as usual” ways of thinking, and then running against the blatantly corrupt, such as William Jefferson, does make it easier. Do we have any doubt that whichever Daley apparatchik wins the Dem primary will be tainted by that machine’s filth?
Bill, I rarely contribute to political campaigns, but I contributed to Ms. Pulido’s. Good luck to her!
