The Emperor seems to believe that he can negoiate with those who will agree to a peace accord then send a suicide bomber in to blow up a school the same afternoon. He is either naive or ignorant of history of the middle east and the Islamic world…or both.

Negotiations with those who only believe in force and fraud go one of two ways - the tranzi way, or the realist way. When tranzis say “negotiation” they mean to treat them like they can be trusted, bribe them to keep still, let them continually take advantage of you, complain about it when the violence resumes, never change this techique. The realist way, after the first betrayal, proceeds with a massive ass-kicking to get the surviving betrayers’ attention firmly focused on the consequences of pissing you off any further. The “negotiations” are only needed to set the exact terms of surrender and the consequences of further transgressions. Repeat until you’ve killed off the ones who can’t learn from their mistakes.

One way produces endless peace processes, endless violence, and endless extortion. The other produces real change and lasting peace.

Why would anyone engage in the tranzi style of negotiation? Job security. A multi-billion dollar yearly funding stream to “manage” a “peace process” that never ends is pretty much the perfect con.
