First, circumstances are such that we need a president who can act effectively and with credibility at home and abroad, even if he would not always do so in the way I or other conservatives would prefer.
The logic here is impenetrable. Self-described conservative Tigerhawk wants Obama to remain strong so that he can do things conservatives won’t like (the chances of Obama actually doing something major conservatives will like is somewhere between slim and fat).
Second, because the Democrats hold such large majorities in the Congress, the weaker Barack Obama is the more he will be pulled to the left. He has been able to move to the center in his cabinet appointments, pronouncements about taxes and entitlements, and national security policy because he is so popular, not in spite of it. If Barack Obama weakens quickly few conservatives (other than rank partisans who simply want Democrats to fail) will like the results.
As a rank partisan who not only wants to see Democrats fail, but wants to see the Democrat Party destroyed and replaced by something less anti-American and more responsible, I see no problem with Obama following his natural inclinations as he is “dragged” (oh, don’t throw me in that briar patch, brer Pelosi) to the left. It is, in fact, one of the reasons I didn’t vote for John McCain. Let Obama and his lefty whackjobs take full credit for the disasters they are about to wreak.
And there is no mystery about this process. We here at DP already saw it coming:
Daily Pundit » Those Devils Made Me Do It
Anybody else see the drift here? While Obama postures as a “moderate,” he’s going to be “forced” by a Democrat congress into going along with every socialist item on the far left’s radical wish list.
That used to be the excuse used by GOP presidents.
And if you take a look at the Pelosi Pork Bill Obama will joyfully sign - actually, he’ll probably say something smug and pompous like “While this isn’t the perfect bill, something must be enacted now to save America….” and then sign it - you’ll see that’s exactly what is going on. This will be “Pelosi’s Bill,” even though Obama operatives have been living in Pelosi’s office for weeks, helping to write this monstrosity that includes so many of the “socialist items on the far left’s radical wish list.”
And this is just the beginning of things “conservatives won’t like.” Tigerhawk wants Obama to remain strong, so he can give us more of the same.
