Obama Signals His Reluctance to Look Into Bush Policies - NYTimes.com

WASHINGTON — President-elect Barack Obama signaled in an interview broadcast Sunday that he was unlikely to authorize a broad inquiry into Bush administration programs like domestic eavesdropping or the treatment of terrorism suspects.

Somebody probably told him that four years hence, the incoming majorities and administration might be looking at his administration for political crimes as well.

    And Bill, that phenomenon of criminalizing politics is arguably the proximate cause of the fall of the Roman Republic. When you know you’ll be sent to the wall if you give up power, the only logical reaction is not to give it up.

    While neither Obama nor any of his worshipers have likely read enough history to know that, at least they were worried enough about their own skins to avoid that path (so far).

    Why, SDN, the Lightbringer is a Harvard man. He’s read about everything. However, unlike our resident Harvard dude, nemo, he seems to think he also learned the answers to everything at Harvard.
