U.S. Thwarted Israeli Plan to Bomb Iranian Nuclear Facility - washingtonpost.com
President Bush last year rejected an Israeli request to provide sophisticated, deep-penetration bombs to attack Iran’s underground nuclear enrichment facilities, Pentagon officials said yesterday.
The administration also rebuffed Israel’s plan to fly through U.S.-controlled Iraqi airspace to reach the Iranian site, officials said. The Israelis had not proposed a specific date for an attack, and it was not clear how far along the planning was when the requests were made, officials said.
Still worshiping at the altar of George?
Any of you dumbos (dumbo: a dumbass pachyderm) want to tell me again how GWB is the best friend Israel ever had? Or maybe you’d like to peddle the knee-slapper about how Georgy was just waiting for the right opportunity to take on Iran.
Or maybe you’d like to bull me the shit about how Bush is the totally fearless great war leader, but he’s been throttled on every front by the mean lefties.
Or maybe you’d like to just go blow a goat. Or a bush.

IIRC there were rumors about this months ago. I don’t know the truth of this story. I will point out that the “Pentagon officials” aren’t named and:
Nothing like an embarrassing revelation about an unpopular President to sell a book nobody would buy otherwise.
Funny how very few of my readers ever “know the truth” of any anti-Bush story, but they swallow whole anything derogatory to denizens of the left.
Actually, I guess it’s natural.
In point of fact, it explains very well the curious actions of both Israel and the United States vis Israel, Iran, and Iranian nuclear weapons over the past couple of years.
On top of it, I’ve been telling the Bushbots for years that Bush would never attack Iran. And I was right.
Oh, I can believe the story, it fits with Bush’s lack of follow thru on terrorism. I just don’t trust the Times and reporters that are trying to sell books. Many reporters turn out to make lousy authors and need all the help they can get.
(Is that the right thru? I tend to get them mixed up)
I don’t know if the story, as reported, is true or not. I wouldn’t doubt it though. If true, it does put to rest the argument over Israel’s capability to do the job on their own. I have never figured out how they could do an effective job without our help. Even the Israeli’s aren’t magicians. I’d like to be proven wrong.
Oh, they could do it entirely without our help, Barry. It’s just that the method they would have to use would be a bit less…surgical…than most would prefer, given that it would involve one of the IDF submarines, a cruise missile, and a nuclear warhead.
Pretty much what most of the Arab and Islamofascist capitals can expect to see if Tel Aviv is nuked.
Well, yes, they could. I was excepting the nuclear option, one I don’t think they will use without sufficient provocation. I was thinking of the discussion that occured here a couple years ago.
But, hey, George has a few days left.
