Protests over BART shooting turn violent
A protest over the fatal shooting by a BART police officer of an unarmed man mushroomed into several hours of violence Wednesday night as demonstrators smashed storefronts and cars, set several cars ablaze and blocked streets in downtown Oakland.
The roving mob expressed fury at police and frustration over society’s racial injustice.
I wonder if the usual smug, fatuous commenters will be howling in outrage at this display of fiery violence as loudly as they did at the (in comparison) quite peaceful gay protests against the Mormons and other bigoted churches?
Oh, who am I kidding? Of course not. Everybody knows gays are harmless, so it’s okay to bash them. Muslims and blacks? That’s a different story.
