Richardson to withdraw as Commerce secretary - Politics- msnbc.com
New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, tapped in December by President-elect Barack Obama to serve as secretary of Commerce, has withdrawn his name for the position, citing a pending investigation into a company that has done business with his state.
“Let me say unequivocally that I and my Administration have acted properly in all matters and that this investigation will bear out that fact,” he said Sunday in a report by NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell. “But I have concluded that the ongoing investigation also would have forced an untenable delay in the confirmation process.”
Who vetted him? The same people who tell us that Obama and his henchmen like Rahm Emanual are pure as the driven snow in regards to the Blagojevich scandal?

Will they stop saying that McStain should have vetted Gov. Palin better?
What was wrong with Palin? The “scandals” attached to her were nothing more than hokum made up out of whole cloth by Democrat smear teams. I suspect that Richardson’s problems are considerably more realistic. There have been rumors about him for years.
Nothing. It’s just that everyday the left insisted that McStain had not “properly” vetted her. In fact I’m still seeing complaints from leftist commentators about that.
Had McCain vetted Palin properly, he would have discovered a whole host of problems, such as:
Good thing we dodged that bullet.
