Bush shoe attacker ‘detested America’

Zaidi was immediately wrestled to the ground by security guards and frogmarched from the room as he shouted: “You are responsible for the death of thousands of Iraqis.”

“Al-Baghdadia television demands that the Iraqi authorities immediately release their stringer Muntazer al-Zaidi, in line with the democracy and freedom of expression that the American authorities promised the Iraqi people,” it said in a statement.

Hilarious. This fuckwit hates Bush for invading Iraq, but Saddam Hussein would have cut off his testicles, rammed them down his throat, and fed him feet-first and screaming into a plastics shredder.

So, who does he, via his employers, appeal to for “justice?” The very system that the hated Bush brought to Iraq.

Anyway, on a somewhat less hilarious note, this - and the subsequent street protests - seem to be emanating from the Sadrist faction. You remember, that’s the group that the Bushbots are claiming has been destroyed by the “Surge?”

Here’s the truth, which the apologists for the badly botched war on terror will eventually be forced by events to acknowledge: Iraq remains a tribal theocracy, and all the old hatreds are only momentarily in check. The Sadrists have not been vanquished, nor have the Badrists, nor has the massive influence of next door neighbor Iran.

Further, Iraqi notions of “democracy” are not those of the West, which at least pays lip service to the concept of minority rights. For Iraqis, “democracy” really means “tyranny of the majority.”

As a lot of Pollyannas here are about to discover the hard way.
