Obama makes pick for energy chief

President-elect Barack Obama is likely to name Steven Chu, a physicist who runs the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, as his energy secretary, three Democratic officials close to the transition said.

What a strange concept - bring in a subject-matter expert rather than a professional politician?

The slant of the article is pretty funny - Chu will need the assistance of “shrewd insider” Carol Browner to fight against the eeeevil oil companies, blah blah blah. Meh, it’s CNN; what did you expect?
