Jeb: I am considering Senate run - Carol E. Lee and Jonathan Martin - Politico.com
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush — the younger brother of the president — is weighing a run for the Senate seat currently held by Republican Mel Martinez.
Dynasties are the enemies of representative republican democracy. The last thing this nation needs is an institutionalized political class.

Rockefeller, Kennedy, Gore, Clinton, Bush, all members of political families. I think it’s too late to worry about the creation of an institutionalized political class.
The Biden family is trying to join that club, too. Other notables include the infamous Daley family in Chicago, the Murkowski clan in Alaska, the Kilpatricks in Detroit, the McKinneys in Atlanta, the Cuomos in NY, the Keans in NJ, and I’m sure I’m only scratching the surface.
Hey, it’s been a tradition since John Quincy Adams, so what are we worried about?
Career politicians are the enemy of representative democracy. Doesn’t matter if it’s a family profession (Kennedys come to mind) or a personal profession (Byrd, Thurmond, Kennedy (again!)).
Looks like we forgot the Longs of Louisiana.
Jeb was a pretty good governor and a fiscal conservative. But as most Florida governors he never met a developer he disliked…
No matter what his past history, the odds say that if he attains the White House (or even the Senate) he will be just as awful as his father and brother were.
I would no more vote for a Bush than I would for a Kennedy. Period.
Jeb is part of the Christian right wing…but he was better than the alternatives we had. But in any event I wouldn’t vote for him for prez…unless it was a choice between him and Obama
If that’s your choice, Guy, you’re screwed either way. Either you get Obama, or you get Bush, and he guarantees another Obama victory.
