Automakers’ desperate bailout plea gaining support - Yahoo! News
DETROIT/WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A top lawmaker predicted Washington would approve a bailout for U.S. automakers after they submitted survival plans, and General Motors Corp and Chrysler LLC said they needed an immediate infusion of cash to avoid failures.
U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, said Washington had little choice about helping the automakers, who say they support one in 10 American jobs.
The dumbshows put on by Washington bribe-takers provide, if nothing else, compelling evidence of the stupidity of crowds, and hence, the great weakness of unfettered democracy.
Anybody idiotic enough to believe that the first “rejection” of an auto-union bailout plan was the last word, or even a relevant word, deserves everything they get - good and hard.
There was, and is, not the slightest doubt that a Democratic party government would, and will, bail out the unions who are their biggest supporters. If they could figure out a way to do that while screwing the capitalist exploiters of GM, Ford, and Chrysler, they would do so (and they probably will figure out something along those lines - sell your jets, take public transport, cut your salaries….) but in the end they will have to bail out the companies in order to bail out the unions. And they will do so. Most compelling: the bribe artists of big business are in full agreement with the bribe artists of big labor that their bribe-takers in government must force the US taxpayer to shoulder the load of saving companies whose management and unions have collaborated in creating monstrously inefficient dinosaur monuments to crony capitalism.
Or: we’re screwed. Because this will only be the first, not the last, such bailout of corrupt, inefficient, stupid unions and the companies that employ them.
