But he, at the outset, more popular among Republicans generally than among the Republicans on the Republican National Committee, even though he has more allies on that committee than some of his opponents would like to believe. He has some work to do, but he is a formidable candidate.
He has to be better than any of the pack of RINOs placed there by Bush, or anybody supported for the post by Maverick McStain.
At least he doesn’t openly spit on conservatives. That alone would be a big improvement.

Don’t expect too much from him. Both he and Ehrlich appeared to be nice guys, and did manage to hold back the wild growth, but in the end, MD is a Dem state, blue from one end to the other. For example, Ehrlich only slowed the growth of the school budget in the state.
He is a RINO, perhaps not as bad as McCain, but a RINO all the same.
(To give you an idea of how blue the state is, they outlawed gun racks in 91 or 92 because they ’scared’ people. In one county, deer hunting is outlawed - or was until the deer over ran the county.)
Yes, I’m worried about that as well, Dan. He is an obvious RINO. But the GOP seems bent on putting the same crowd back into power, with the only difference being that now they are all bleating “We get it, we understand, trust us.”
I don’t, really. The party may actually end up destroying itself through its own stupidity. Oh, well. Creative destruction works in politics, too.
We don’t have to kill or purge them all. We need to make a few examples and the rest will follow well enough. They need to fear the base more than they fear the Democrats and the MSM.
The Republic wasn’t corrupted in a day and it won’t be cleansed in a day either.
The only problem I have with Steele…and I expect to get flack over this…is that we have had pretty grisly results with black “conservative” politicians. They tend to go RINO either sooner or later. He may be a good choice, but I don’t know that I can trust him.

I think that is a reasonable observation. The only major black pol who has stayed true to conservatism is the man the lefty media destroyed on behalf of The Lightbringer in his one, and only, Senate race, Alan Keyes.
