Election Day Leaves Unresolved Races in Several States|NewsChannel 8
Minnesota officials are recounting the ballots to decide the race between incumbent senator Norm Coleman and challenger Al Franken– first by machine, then by hand. Coleman leads by 206 votes, but Franken refuses to concede.
The race has been plagued by accusations of improprieties on the part of poll workers and of partisanship, which the Secretary of State denies. Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie argues, “When a Supreme Court justice is appointed by whomever, when they put on the robe, they stop being of a political party and they start being servants of the people of Minnesota, and I feel that same way about when I took the oath of office and walked through the door, I became a servant of the people of Minnesota.”
Both candidates will have attorneys present during the recount..
Georgia’s incumbent senator Saxby Chambliss and challenger Jim Martin will participate in a December run-off, since neither candidate received at least 50 percent of the vote. McCain hits the campaign trail Thursday to help his Senate colleague.
And Anchorage mayor Mark Begich has taken the lead over incumbent senator and convicted felon Ted Stevens by 814 votes.
The MSM is not paying much attention to these races, in part because Democrats are busy stealing them. In Minnesota, votes are appearing basically out of thin air for unfunny comic Al Franken, who is bidding to become the Clown Prince of the Senate.
If you’d like to contribute a bit to help short-circuit these efforts, go here. And by the way, it may be just me, but when I clicked on the prominent “Donate” button on the main page of the SRCC, I didn’t get the donation page. If the GOP morons can’t even get their own donation pages to operate correctly, what does it say about the rest of their online fundraising efforts?

The Secretary of State of Minnesota was elected as part of a MoveOn SOS effort to get “friendly” SOSs in place in swing states. He is also somehow affliated with ACORN of all things. This is something that conservatives/libertarians are going to have to counter quickly - we cannot have MoveOn/Soros controlling our elections.
And if you can please do help Saxby out - Obama is sending down his army to work for Martin. Saxby is not always conservative enough for me (and a lot of consevatives protest voted for the Libertarian in the race due to him voting for the bailout, hence the runoff), but he’s 10x better than Martin and I don’t think we really want the dems to get to 60. The runoff is all about turnout at this point and who is more motivated. My hope is that many of the Obamabots that went and voted party line will stay home now that The One has won.
I generally don’t approve of voting for a Republican solely because he “isn’t as bad” as a Democrat. In the cases of these three senators, however, I am willing to make an exception as a strategic move to prevent Obama from getting a 60 man Dem senate, and I have, in fact, donated to the SRCC for that purpose.
God only knows what the dumbasses will actually do with my money, though. Probably use it to buy anti-Palin ads.
That’s it. Chambliss is toast. Lot’s of folks down south are not happy with McCain’s treatment and lack of defense of Sarah Palin after the election. I think Chambliss is just plain nuts even allowing McCain to get anywhere near him.
Thanks for the help. For years, I was represented by Cynthia McKinney, so I’m just relieved that Saxby isn’t insane and embarrassing.
Seriously, I don’t know that I’ve ever actually voted “for” someone rather than “for the lesser of two evils”, it’s kind of depressing. I didn’t even get the chance to vote for Fred in the primary, he dropped out too soon.
Saxby’s office has gotten an earful from me whenever he strays on the spending side (i.e. the bailout, the farm bill and his earmarks), but he is good on immigration, he continues to push for enforcement of our laws in that regard. He’s good on the military and foreign affairs, supportive of the other Georgia and Ukraine for instance.
Wish Palin had arranged to come by on her way home from the governors meeting for a campaign rally.
“Both candidates will have attorneys present during the recount.”
This made me smile. Sounds like the old days when duellists would have their seconds present.
