“Community service”? Yep, mandatory

Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year.

In case you don’t understand the meaning of “require,” it means “force.

As in “forced servitude.”

Give us your kids, comrades. Or else we’ll just take them.

    It will be the only requirement that they can not move to the next grade without completing. Straight Fs? No problem if you did your “community service”.

    I had to do something like this in my seventh grade. At the time, I was able to do it without joining any organization whatsoever — I set up a stand by an outdoor track in a park and gave out free water to the joggers. I suspect a federal program will demand more rigor in its conscripts.

    Instapundit reports the word “required” has now been changed to “goal”. Goal is Obamaspeak for required.
