But beyond his ability to shake the money tree, Emanuel is considered to have one of the finest political minds in Washington. (This coming from his former boss Clinton who was no slouch himself when it came to developing winning strategies.)

Why do even smart conservatives continue to peddle the ridiculous meme of Clinton’s political genius? He entered office with solid congressional majorities. He left office in disgrace with his party a significant minority. And his and his wife’s most recent venture resulted in some guy with no experience and loads of unsavory connections kicking their rears completely.

Only George W. Bush and Jimmy Carter have displayed equal political club-footedness.

Let’s get it straight: Bill Clinton was no political genius. If anything, he was a sort of political black plague, a kiss of death.
