That the caricatures of Obama-worship and America-hatred we see dredged up from the more noxious depths of Kos and other such sewers actually included real people.
But at my place of employment today (remember, I’m in San Francisco), I’ve heard people with master’s degrees gathered in jubilant clots near my cubicle saying things like “I can finally feel proud of my country again - I couldn’t for the past eight years,” or ‘I can finally love my country again,” or “And the best thing, did you hear that France is looking forward to respecting us again.”
Swallowing my gorge was the best I could do, even though I was nearly shaking with the desire to hoist the black flag, in Mencken’s words. However, I was able to manage at least one thing - when, on two separate occasions, people asked me how I felt about Obama’s election, I was able, with only a slightly edged smile, to respond, ‘I am very happy with his election.”
What I didn’t add, of course, was that the reason for my happiness is my belief that his election will destroy him, his political party, and the leftwing moonbats who have gained power and influence under the mismanagement and horrible leadership of George Bush, and will also result in a resurgence of genuine conservative principles in a newly remade Republican Party.

Somebody actually cares what the French think?
We should start a pool to bet on the first time and place a European statesman is accidently overheard using a black or African slur to describe Obama. Should be a real eye-opening for those who think Europe is progressive Disneyland.
Genes? Where you been? That’s what the entire election was about, at least from the left. Now that Obama is the Man - chew on that gristly bit of irony - everyone in the world is gonna love us again. Hugs and smooches all around. Life is gonna become one big combination Dead show/rave with free booze, weed and X.
And unicorns. I need to Google “unicorns.” What’s the best way to bring one down? Is the virgin in bondage thing for real, or will a 30.06 do the job? And what do you do with the horn? Grind it down for blow? Smoke it? I confess I haven’t been following along with the whole unicorn deal, so any advice would be welcome.
Ain’t change grand?!?
Chef,
The horn, powdered, is used both as an aphrodisiac (with long lasting properties - she will remain faithful and submissive to you, even if you..ah, stray. Also, it will help you to overcome the limitations of the flesh so to speak.)
As for the rest, you need the virgin (female) to lure it in. A 30.06 should do the job, but the bullet should be silver, blessed by a priest, and dipped in Holy Water, with a cross notched in the tip.
Just in case.
Nimrod, Sarkozy already called Obama’s stance on Iran “utterly immature”. Since Sarko is technically a conservative (at least by French standards), the racism rules established for McCain/Palin and the GOP are in effect. Therefore, “immature” is obviously a racist slur, and only a racist like you wouldn’t know that. Racist.
Dan? For real? We just elected a guy on the basis that all of us guys are gonna have perpetual hardons for a harem of submissive slave Princess Leias?
Well. That explains a lot.
That didn’t take long.
What? Nader’s not a European politician? Had me fooled, bucko.
In direct links to videos, I usually try to give the gist here, since some of our readers don’t have setups that handle videos well.
In a nutshell: In this video, Ralph Nader tells Fox News that he hopes Obama will be “an Uncle Sam, not an Uncle Tom.” After a typical lunatic Nader rant, Fox asks him if, in retrospect, he wishes he’d picked a different term than “Uncle Tom.”
Nader glares at him grimly and replies, “Not. At. All.”
Folks, we are finally going to have that long-delayed “conversation about race” in this country, and at long last, words are not going to be particularly minced. The days when a phrase like “Black man on a white horse” can be, ipso facto, determined to be hateful and racist are about to come to a screeching halt.
Frankly, it’s about time. Here’s the brutal truth: Barack Obama is a black man. He was elected to the White House because of his race, and he and his people used race to tar his opponents as racist simply because they opposed him.
I’m not going to pretend he’s not a black man any longer. Nor am I going to pretend that his black cultural and experiental history has nothing to do with what he is and what he does. Nor am I going to pretend that his status as a black man has nothing to do with the expectations various segments of his support demographic have of him.
Bring it on.
I find it amusing that foreign countries (politicians and populace) have never missed a chance this election to point out that if America didn’t elect Obama it would be proof we’re racist.
So what are the progressive, forward-thinking countries that have elected a president (or other Big Chief) that wasn’t a member of the majority race? Anyone? Anyone? (The only one that occurs to me is Fujimori in Peru.)
The Japanese have been especially mouthy about this. I’ve been telling my Japanese friends that they can talk once Japan elects a ethnically Korean or burakumin prime minister. That shuts them up.
There are a large number of ethnic Koreans in Japan, but it is very hard for them to get citizenship. A friend of mine was a third-generation “Korean born in Japan” and was unable to get citizenship until he married–against loud objections and after ten years of effort by his fiancee–into an upper-class Japanese family. They pulled strings and he’s the only one in his extended family to have citizenship.
And the burakumin (hereditary low-caste Japanese)? Forget it. Amazon.jp refuses to even carry books by burakumin publishers, which should give you an idea how thrilled they are to talk about it.
Toren, was he one of the children of the Koreans brought in to work the factories during WWII? IIRC, after the War the Koreans were not offered transportation home and had no legal status in Japan.
IMO, it’s important to understand what’s going on with the Nader “gaffe.”
It’s not lunatic. It’s a shot across the bow - less than 24 hours after the election - a warning to BHO that he’d better not even think of straying off the lefty reservation, or they’ll eat him alive. That Nader was comfortable coming out with it on Fox shows how confident they are in their power, how disconnected they are with the country generally, and the contempt with which they view their “clients”.
I’m sure he’s getting similar warnings privately: They put him office; now he’d better deliver.
Genes;
Bingo. The Japanese wanted to ship all the Koreans home because with the collapse of their empire large numbers of Japanese were returning and they felt the country could not support them and the foreigners. (This was, in fact, a very real and severe problem, and Japan suffered from near-famine for almost a decade after the war.) But the Occupation would not allow it. While the Japanese feel the Occupation was, in general, good for Japan, there were a few things that they resented a great deal. That was one of them, and the Koreans are paying for it to the present day.
Ah, well. The Koreans’ had 6 buildings in thier monument to their independence from Japan. 5 of them, as I was told, named with some variation of Japanese Aggression Hall. Think they might be holding a grudge?
