November 4th 2008 Election08, Propaganda, Assholes

Via Ace, we find toasty goodness: all sorts of interesting claims and election analysis by Sean Malstrom. My favorite bit:

Lying to pollsters is frequent and a necessity in Pennslyvania due to the unions. Many union bosses will call their members, posing as a ‘pollster’, and if the member gives the wrong asnwer, a thug is sent to the house. The Teacher’s Union there has sent strict orders to vote for Obama “or else”.

How…interesting. Union thuggery is an even better reason for McCain supporters to clam up than generalized Obamunist assism.

We’ve seen a “shy Tory factor” posited in several places (including HillBuzz, a site I never expected to read, much less link), trying to explain the variance between the public polls and candidate visits. If the election is already over, why are McCain and Palin basically living in Ohio and Pennsylvania? Why did McCain visit NH, and Obama visit Iowa? The candidates are not going to waste their precious and irreplaceable time holding rallies in places where the outcome is not in doubt.

If Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida are the battlefields again this year, then not much has changed. This election is going to the wire. If you’re an obsessive poll-watcher, lay in your caffeine and popcorn early. We may yet get to see Keith Olbermann have a nervous breakdown on the air.
