Charles Krauthammer - McCain for President - washingtonpost.com

Contrarian that I am, I’m voting for John McCain. I’m not talking about bucking the polls or the media consensus that it’s over before it’s over. I’m talking about bucking the rush of wet-fingered conservatives leaping to Barack Obama before they’re left out in the cold without a single state dinner for the next four years.

What the hell is contrarian about that?

A vote for McCain is a vote for the GOP status quo, that has brought us so many good things for conservatism over the past eight years.

The real problem here is that, like all our rulers, conservative “leaders” also gravitate to the BosWash axis and its social scene. Why getting invited to dinners - or not getting invited - should matter a damn in deciding who should lead the nation is a mindset as pernicious as the socialist giveaway/takeaway game that is currently destroying the America of the Founders.
