None of these people currently in government deserve to be there. It’s time to throw these bums out.

I hope he didn’t break any crayons before he mailed his missive off.

“None of these people currently in government deserve to be there. It’s time to throw these bums out.”
But let’s hand promotions to two of the people who are members of the controlling party most responsible for the mess.
Jonah Goldberg shows some heart and spine today in the LAT, with a barnburner “pox on all your houses” rant. Closing graf:
Really, how is it possible for the Legislature of a democratic Republic to have such a dismal track record and low popularity for such a long period of time? Who doesn’t suspect that we’d do better picking a random adult citizen from each of the 435 districts every two years, than to allow this to continue?
I have recently been toying with in my mind that we would be better off with a lottery draft as opposed to elections for the federal government. All adults over 35 included.
The Legislature of this country arrived at the tipping point where self interest overcame the built in safe guards of the system when incumbency of 2 and 4 year assignments assured 20 to 30+ year careers for monkeys who knew just enough to arrange to keep pressing the reward button.
The 6 year assignments were designed to be long term seats for self serving monkeys right from the start.
Yeah, except the Senators were originally answerable to the state legislatures, not just a state’s largest cities.
In any state that had contested elections (where the legislature might change hands), Senators had to be able to work with members of the opposing party. (There are a lot more contested states than you’d think. Indiana, reliably red presidentially for years, currently has a Democrat-controlled House.) The Senate’s seniority system made it advantageous for a Republican-controlled legislature to retain an incumbent Democrat Senator (and vice versa), but only if the Senator behaved himself.
