September 17th 2008 Immigration, Obama, McCain

Barbra vs. Lady de Rothschild - By Mickey Kaus - Slate Magazine

Of course, he’ll secure the borders first! … More: In Florida, McCain declares immigration one of his “first priorities,” blasts Obama for insufficiently supporting the 2006-7 McCain-Kennedy legalization bill. … Note to Nigerian scam artists: Save your emails and focus them on McCain’s “base” conservative supporters. They are the biggest suckers on the planet! Just tell them you hate the MSM and they’ll do anything you say. .

Yeah, Mickey, we know. I know. I know I’m voting for a shit sandwich in McCain, and the filling is going to be open borders and amnesty for 20 million illegal immigrants or so. I even know that McCain is more likely to seek that than Obama, at least initially.

But if it comes down to having Obama or McCain making decisions after a successful WMD attack on the US, or an outbreak of some sort of epidemic, or “climate change” turning out to be an abrupt and sharp cooling of the planet, rather than a warming, I’d rather have McCain making the decisions about where to send the vaccines, or how to respond to the attack, or what to help the farmers with, than Obama.

It’s called voting your naked self interest, and it’s the only reason I’m voting for McCain rather than the Libertarian candidate.

We’ll survive a wave of newly-legalized aliens. We have before, many times. But an aerosolized bird flu with a 30 percent mortality rate and an administration worried about political blowback from anti-vaccination PC gangs? Maybe not so much.
