Weather Nerd ยป 24,000 people still on Galveston Island?!?

I’m beginning to think this could end up being the sort of disaster that NOLA wasn’t. The stupidity of people is, sadly, often limitless.

UPDATE: Judging from the NOAA data at the site, observed water levels are coming in a good bit higher than predicted water levels. And the predicted levels guaranteed a major disaster.

We may lose Galveston entirely.
