My Way News - Analysis: Biden pick shows lack of confidence
Democratic strategists, fretting over polls that showed McCain erasing Obama’s lead this summer, welcomed the move. They, too, worried that Obama needed a more conventional - read: tougher - approach to McCain.
The Dems are always whining that their candidates aren’t “tough” enough to counter the “GOP smear machine.”
But with the minor exception of BJ Clinton, they always get their asses whupped, and it’s mostly because the GOP “smears” tend to be true. Which is why they wreak so much havoc.

For a perfect example of the genre, check out Michael Kinsley today:
Like the medals over the fence, the “jenjis” khan thing, and the obviously staged, inauthentic “Reporting for Duty” farce didn’t clue the American voter in. No; it was a function of the media not being able to call the Republican smear machine a lie, so the rubes bought it, that did him in. What a condescending, clueless piece of hackery.
Ezra Klein’s analysis included the idea that the Biden pick would counter McCain’s reputation on national security. I wonder if Biden will have more success than “war hero” Kerry did.
I have always thought the last nail in hillbilly’s coffin was the false claims about being under fire. IIRC, Biden has the same problem, some reference to being under fire in the green zone.
