NRA sues S.F. over guns in public housing
But they didn’t sue to overturn SF’s (SCOTUS-declared unconstitutional [in DC Heller]) ban on workable weapons for self defense in private homes. Seems like a slam dunk to me, but I’m going to presume they know what they are doing. And maybe somebody else will file suit to overturn that shortly.

If I remember correctly, the general handgun ban was already struck down as a violation of California’s preemption law. See Wikipedia.
TF, I was right here when that happened, and following it closely. True, SF’s attempt to ban firearms entirely was struck down by state courts on preemptive grounds. Immediately after that occurred, SF then passed a new law requiring that all firearms in the home be stored in locked containers or with safety locks, which renders them unusable for self-defense - much like the part of the DC law struck down by Heller. If there is any core to Heller, it is that the Second protects an individual right to have firearms in the home for use in self defense. The SF law deliberately tries to render firearms in the home unusable for this purpose.
