Mumbletongue McCain Follows Bumbletongue Bush?

McCain bumbles the delivery - Jonathan Martin - Politico.com

The topic: Is there a way John McCain can win the presidency without giving another speech?

That’s overstated, of course, but the concern about McCain’s wooden and stumbling address before a few hundred supporters here Tuesday night

One of the things those of us who think a primary factor in the disastrous Presidency of George W. Bush was his utter lack of leadership skills, especially including the ability to speak and motivate effectively in public. Ignored at the outset was GWB’s “wooden and stumbling” mode of address. Speeches that were obvious clunkers, and press conferences where he looks like a deer in the headlights when presented with any unscripted questions were tipoffs that were glossed over or ignored. They shouldn’t have been, because they were leading indicators of such moments as his glazed and disastrous response to 9/11.

We’ve already had one disaster like that - and now we’re being peddled the opportunity to buy another one just like him.

No, thanks. If I have to vote for a stumbling, inarticulate clown, it will be one who at least espouses a politics I’m more capable of supporting. (via Glenn Reynolds)
