Wright to Obama: ‘Coming after you’ - Mike Allen - Politico.com

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright said Monday that he will try to change national policy by “coming after” Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) if he is elected president.

The pastor also insisted Obama “didn’t denounce” him and “didn’t distance himself” from Wright’s controversial remarks, but “did what politicians do.”

Okay, this is getting downright weird, but I think I know what is going on.

Rev. Wright doesn’t give a damn about Obama, but he’s climbing on Obama’s back in a bid to supplant Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton as the national black leader. (It’s no accident that Sharpton is making ferocious noises about closing NYC - he’s struggling to keep his own cred.)

And Wright may be, well, right. Some blacks seem to think that only open warfare with white America will satisfy their sense of grievance. This is, of course, suicidally insane, but perhaps race pimps like Wright sense a weakness they think they can exploit.

Look for all the black leaders to start engaging in this sort of histrionics. I don’t think Wright will be sufficient to destroy Obama’s candidacy, but that possibility certainly doesn’t seem to be worrying Wright at all. On the other hand, I expect that if Wright actually does seem to be creating real problems for the Obama campaign, Obama will, in a blinding glare of publicity, leave Wright’s church and repudiate him very publicly.

Of course, Johnny Maverick apparently doesn’t intend to exploit Wright’s Wrantings, so who knows?

UPDATE:  An interesting notion.
Is the Stage Being Set For the All-Time Sister Souljah Moment?

And now, for a really far-out theory… Wright goes out, makes even more outrageous remarks, and it gives Obama the opportunity to finally sever the ties. A statement like, “I loved this man, but I cannot abide what he is saying now… I am leaving that church and must disavow Jeremiah Wright.”

Issue resolved. Obama is given credit for being a healer, for a courageous move, for standing up against divisiveness at great personal emotional expense, etc. …
