Climate experts predict temperature drop - Telegraph
Climate experts are forecasting a drop in global temperatures this year.
In which the usual suspects scramble to try to explain why global temperatures stopped rising in 1998.
The claim is that temp this year will still be “higher than the average for the past 100 years.”
I would suggest that this “caveat” is meaningless. If it actually is higher, it will be only by a hair. And, in fact, probably close to half of the temps over the past hundred years have been “higher than the average.” See below for further discussion. January 2008 - 4 sources say “globally cooler” in the past 12 months « Watts Up With That?
The other part of the pro-warming argument is that this ten year cool-off is cause by La Nina. So…an ocean current, even one as prominent as La Nina, is capable of erasing all of the supposed massive effects of human civilization on the planatery biosphere? How interesting. What sort of influence do you suppose the even more massive effects of the Sun on earthly climate have?

How interesting. I remember pretty well that we have a fair number of cold, snowy winters in the 1970s. Gotta make sure that those years are heavily weighted in your starting point, rather than the Dustbowl years. Otherwise, you might see dick for temperature increase.
Take a look at the data with all four sets adjusted to the same baseline. A look at temperature anomalies for all 4 global metrics: Part 2
Looks like the argument for any global warming has holes in it.
The idea that the temperature of the Globe is changing is not outrageous. What’s outrageous is
(1) the suggestion that we could predict what direction it’s headed next week, and
(2) that we could stop it.
Sure we’ve made measurable changes in the amount of unique chemicals we add to the environment. But the earths climate has been shifting throughout all recorded time. That we could REVERSE THE CLIMATE? Idiocy.
Scott, you can add to the “What’s outrageous” list
(3) that we can measure it.
What is the current average earth temperature? And, more importantly, what is the earths average energy?
And even with the meager measurement capability we have, measuring air temperature and ocean temperature and averaging the two together is, well, silly.
I was wandering around and can not remember where I got on to this at. BBC : Balance Restored A Goreball Warming activist* bullied the wimps at BBC into changing their story. Kind of makes you wonder if any of their stories are more than a reflection of what some activist* wants. Check out the comments.
