Weight discrimination common, U.S. survey finds
Discrimination against the overweight may be about as prevalent as racial discrimination, the results of a survey of U.S. adults suggest.
Makes one wonder who’s pushing this. Tort lawyers? Professional advocates who need a new gig to keep the money and camera time coming? EEOC bureaucrats looking for job stability? I guess it might be coming from overweight people who actually suffer discrimination, but follow the money trail first.
As for the survey itself, it seems to rely on self-reported incidents of discrimination. Not the most reliable of data. I’d hope that further research is done before public policy is set. Oh, that’s another possible driver: social scientists in search of their next research grant.
