I recently stumbled on this wonderful compendium of films known for food. For better or for worse, as the case might be. So, with the Oscars behind us, take a look at some films culinary bent. It’s an interesting list, and I’m thinking of others films to add.
Feel free to comment on the list, which, by the way, is courtesy of one of my favorite foodie magazines, Gastronomica.

How do you miss “Fatso” with Dom Deluise? It was ALL about food.
I can still vividly remember the scene with the fried eggs, peppers and toast……
The Indiana Jones one with the monkey brains deserves a spot as well!
It’s in there. Blazing Saddles, though, isn’t.
Now this is just weird. Kontera picked up on “Blazing Saddles,” and linked it to “Dice.com Tech Jobs: Dice offers 95,000+ IT Positions. Start your Tech Job Search Today.” Is Sheriff considered an IT job these days?
“Babette’s Feast” and “Big Night” are my two favorite foodie movies, with that orgy of slurping in “Tom Jones” a close third. “Bread and Chocolate” seems to be missing, and the title alone should qualify it.
I’m guessing “Ratatouille” is too new (any idea how old the list is?), otherwise that seems like a glaring omission.
They forgot Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Mmmm, smoked ham & sausage!
Does the “how to eat a fig” scene in “Women in Love” count?
Or how about “Motel Hell”:
“It takes all kinds of critters, to make Farmer Brown’s fritters!”
