Global Warming Will Save America from the Right…Eventually | BaltimoreChronicle.com
The important thing is that we, on the higher ground both actually and figuratively, need to remember that, when they begin their historic migration from their doomed regions, we not give them the keys to the city. They certainly should be offered assistance in their time of need, but we need to keep a firm grip on our political systems, making sure that these guilty throngs who allowed the world to go to hell are gerrymandered into political impotence in their new homes.
There will be much work to be done to help the earth and its residents—human and non-human—survive this man-made catastrophe, and we can’t have these future refugee troglodytes, should their personal disasters still fail to make them recognize reality, mucking things up again.
It should be considered acceptable, in this stifling new world, to say, “Shut up. We told you this would happen.”
Heartwarming. Of course, remember that the response of desperate hordes of “conservatives” migrating from doomed homelands to your “Shut up,” might very well be “Bang.”
Just saying. (via Glenn Reynolds).
UPDATE: Welcome, Instapundit readers!

I wonder if he’s ever thought about the fact that the county maps of Red vs Blue don’t cover a whole lot of arable land. I wonder how he’ll deal with the food riots when we interdict the roads bringing in the food, medicine, etc. to his little urban heaven?
Moron.
Baltimore is the high ground, figuratively or literally?
I don’t know what he’s smoking or what map he’s looking at, but if you look at the who voted for who, most of the blue areas(why are socialists called blue rather then red - which is what they are) are, in fact, in the big cities - many of which are on the coastal areas.
So I ’spect that that the shoe will be on the other foot, myself. And us “reddies” will still have most of the guns.
Funny enough the experience of the PRC tells exactly a different story. The socialist disaster which is the countryside has spurred a migration FROM the socialist (hell hole or is that redundant) countryside into the relatively less socialist (capitalist they call it, but that’s Orwellian to my ears) Special Economic Zones in the coastal cities.
If history is any guide, it’s the urban, socialist areas of USA that will fail and people will migrate away to the relatively capitalist non urban areas, if they can. Lo and behold, isn’t that what has been happening the last 25 - 30 years (think Detroit etc).
Actually it describes the 1970’s to a tee. Failed city after city was a disaster area including Mew York and LA.
Reagan Revolution reversed that but the latest trends point to a repeat of Urban decay in the next 10 -15 years.
The should be New York, not Mew York. Sigh…
There’s something particularly endearing about journalists wishing to tell people to shut up, don’t you think?
Just what is needed in this time of run-up to a national election - yet one more reminder of the kind of deeply Leftist, extensively politico-paternalistic dork that has come to exemplify all that is really, really damaging to the principles and spirit of this Nation of ours…and who, with frightening frequency, haunts the halls of what was, once upon a time, a journalistic establishment that was admired world-wide for its fearless straightforwardness and its devotion to the pursuit of the truth.
I sincerely wish to outlive both of his cats (their life-tenure being his benchmark, apparently, for the imminent catastrophic consequences of “global warming, man-sourced”) at least twice over, so as to be able to sneer in his ignorant face at how bereft of even a single brain cell’s intelligence his little screed really is.
As an idle thought: If, in fact, the part of his empty-skulled scenario that involves the destruction of virtually all of the arable territory in the continental U.S. by either drought or inundation were to take place, what, one might ask, does he think he would be able to find for nourishment?
Aside from a few areas in New Jersey and upstate New York, there’s precious little agricultural territory available in his moral-high-ground Brave New America.
Maybe he thinks the Mexican illegals will be happy to feed him…
With the Bay Area and Berkeley underwater from rising ocean levels, where will the Left get its Owsley acid for their Kool-aid?
First of all, the GEOGRAPHICAL location of voters does not matter. If conservatives move to the NorthEast, so they will simply vote there. There are more conservative voters than leftist voters (just tally all the popular votes, over the last 40 years, for the GOP vs. the Dems). How does this ‘journalist’ miss such a huge point?
Also, this loser appears to be unaware that Bush voters are economically far more productive than Democrat voters, as was certainly the case in 2004.
If you ever want to annoy a leftist with the truth, and leave them in sputtering indignation, simply send them this funny picture.
Being as we’re the armed half of the country, it’d be a real shame if we’d had to to herd all of the liberals across the border into Canada.
Trail Of Tears II: Electric Boogaloo
emdfl:
“And us “reddies” will still have most of the guns.”
Along with all of the food.
I’m picturing New York City with a water cistern on every roof, a candle on every hearth and a victory garden stretching for sun on every grimy balcony. What with two cats to feed, Mr. Lindorff might want to get a move on while he can still mail order seeds from the conservative outback. He should probably stake out a chunk of the local greenway for the neighborhood cows & chickens while he’s at it, stock up on back issues of Popular Mechanics, and take a crash course in the martial arts. Because, of course, without any rednecks to do the fighting for him, he’ll be pretty easy pickin’s for any hungry guy who outweighs him.
Enjoy your world, Dave, you’re gonna miss us more than you know.
Shoot — Didn’t mean to post the above (cisterns & victory gardens) anonymously. Just forgot to fill in my name.

I guess “count every vote” is by the wayside. A naked appeal to politically disenfranchise conservatives? Say it isn’t so.
While we can ridicule the conclusions made by this journalist about the flight of Red Staters, I think another point should be made. The anthropogenic global warming folks have been predicting rising sea levels for twenty years, now. However, actual measurements of mean sea level throughout the world show, if anything, a lessening of the increase in sea level. Looks to be about 1 to 2mm per year, currently. Not exactly a deluge, and a major proof of the fallacy of their computer models, to boot.
Linky.
Oh, he’s got that one all figured out, too, LaD:
Why bother even responding to this guy’s goofy apocalyptic fantasy. In the lifetime of his two closest companions, the oceans levels of the world will not even rise an inch - nay, not even a centimeter.
If leftist douches really believed that coastal areas were going to be swamped in the near future, they’d already have gotten out of Dodge.
Anon, that presupposes they are smart enough to come in out of the rain. Which is a pretty big supposition.
Further: Move to someplace where home delivery of the New York Times is unavailable? Unthinkable!
He’s a deep thinker J.S., educated by the best of the best; so I’m sure his level of preparation for the coming Armageddon is on the order of being ticked off (yet bravely dealing with the fact in the face of incredible adversity) that he can’t get whipped cream at his local coffee bar because the cows drowned, or died of thirst, or froze to death — or whatever…
Bill,
I love how this guy is so appalled at the corrupting influence on blue state politics of red state refugees his fellow Americans) — yet I’m positive he’s one who turns a blind eye to the very same issue WRT Mexican immigrations (illegals into voters via drivers licenses + “motor voter”, etc.)
As to why the liberal blue states aren’t “red”…
That was the MSM jumping thru their a$$es to avoid the obvious red=commie equation.
Hmmm, so all the refugees from flooded New Orleans ran right to the well known utopia of Baltimore….. funny, I thought they ran to red town Houston and Dallas…. you know, those conservative population centers that are going to quickly flood as soon as the earth heats up another .5 celsius.
This guy is practicing Rovian logic. The basis of his article is ludricrous on it’s face, but you almost want to ignore that to attack him on his utter arrogance.
I will offer him a wager. I will wager him $10,000 that his cats die before I am forced off the barnett shell by rising water. If he is too pussy to take that bet then I will bet that his cats last batch of kittens will die before I am forced from my north texas oil patch due to rising waters.
‘Of course, remember that the response of desperate hordes of “conservatives” migrating from doomed homelands to your “Shut up,” might very well be “Bang.”’
Better to die on your feet then live on your knees, right?
Freedom ain’t free, baby :)!
Maybe he’ll be able to survive the coming Apocalypse by breeding his kitty cats and eating ‘em.
…and not in a century but in the lifetime of my two cats…
Heh. Naturally.
Newscaper hits on an important point (The writer we criticise is more distressed by an influx of Red State voters than by illegal immigrants). Lindorff sees himself as part of an elite that has risen up by some natural means over its fellows, and thus fit to rule. But he is merely part of a tribe that attempts to self-appoint itself and deeply resents not having power. He fantasizes the destruction of his main competitor tribe. It’s just a high-vocabulary version of the Hatfields and McCoys to him, caught up in thoughts of primitive vengeance. Pitiful.
lxman: yes, and of course plural.
Pity liberal rage boy. In the Rockefeller era, New York attempted to deny welfare to people who moved in from other states. The courts struck that attempt down.
Even if global warming were to have the effects he fantasizes, and miraculously spare the cities he lives in, he would still be impotent to enact his fantasy.
How many years have to go by without this happening before we can say “Shut up! I told you it wouldn’t happen!”, because the case for drastic sea level rise is extremely thin, and in any event, requires thousands of years of melting, even though as every century goes by, as it has since Greenland and the poles were much warmer 10 K years ago, Greenland and the poles get less summer sunshine. It has to do with orbital cycles that are known to cause and end ice ages. This cylce will reverse and in 22 thousand years, we will be back to where we are today, except there may well be thick glaciers covering Toronto on their way to NY and the Bering Land Bridge may well have returned.
I don’t know, it says he’s from Philadelphia. My guess is he’s getting pretty good at dodging bullets.
It’s pretty obvious that this guy doesn’t know much history. If he had, he wouldn’t be pushing such idiocy.
Consider China for a moment. Until the 19th Century, every time there was a drought or somebody’s patch of meadow got overgrazed, the people from what they call the Heartland and we’d think of as Eastern Central Asia, would turn around and invade China, like the Mongols did. What’s funny here is that this guy presupposes that his aesethetic imperatives makes it impossible for such a Volkerwanderung to happen to him.
Such ignorance is apalling.
The funniest part of the whole article is it skips the whole New Orleans experiance. a present day example of what happens in a city when it goes under water. He points out that the whole south east and mid west will be water world. but the fact is most of the major cities are ports hence at sea level or slightly above. so they will be whiped out it will be New Orleans on a grand scale. A bunch of folks who cant manage thier day to day afairs without someone from the goverment to tell them what to do. All of us hillbillies will be fine just sitting on the front porch with a shotgun to keep all starving hords from the city out of the corn crib. Also note the term “hill” in hillbilly not likly to be effected by the flood.
Lone conservative in Mass
Bill Quick,
On gerrymandering, our brilliant journalist does not seem to know that even though 82% of Manhatten votes Dem and just 18% for the GOP, that 18% comprises of the people that COUNT.
Hedge Fund managers (residing in Manhattan and Greenwich, CT), donate money to the GOP over Dems by a 60% to 28% margin. George Soros would be among the 28%, but as you can see, he is outnumbered.
Also, of the Forbes 400 wealthiest Americans, 72% backed the GOP and just 28% backed the Dems. This is a nationwide distribution, however.
Our ‘journalist’ seems to think that GOP voters are an economic burden. I have now provided 3 solid sources showing that quite the opposite it true, even in Manhattan.
It is also safe to say that ~80% of taxes are paid by GOP voters, and just 20% by Democrat voters.
Let’s kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity…
Sorry, not Coulter fan myself but it seemed to fit the tone of this person’s article / be funny…
Anyway, in the real real world, the opposite tends to be actually happening. Idiot leftists so screw up where they live (California, NYC, et cetera) that they tend to move from the already fouled up (politically) place to somewhere more rural… and then proceed to make all the same political mistakes / impose them on the new area… The old gem about insanity comes to mind… it’s repeating the same mistake over and over…
Pete:
Please don’t, we home-grow enough of these morons already.
i may have to recalibrate my Wank-O-Meter. That article almost overloaded it.
Moreover history is replete with what happens when a displaced population migrates to new locale. It is rarely favorable for the current tenants.
