On the Bhutto assassination is that even if al-Qaeda murdered her, it was Bush ally Musharraf’s fault because he didn’t protect her. The Bhutto supporters in Pakistan are especially pushing this narrative, by the way.

Neca eos omnes. They pose a threat to my family, me, and my way of life. Even if Saudi Arabia were to be destroyed tomorrow (a good idea in its own right), it would be a generation or more before they stopped being a threat.
Ain’t just the declared Lefties, Bill. “Republican” Ron Paul is on CNN saying the same thing.
If I had been her I wouldn’t leave it up to my political rival to protect me! What a maroon…
I think she must have had her own security arrangements. I also think someone on the inside probably betrayed her. It would be awfully convenient for the Judas or Judas’ (plural) if attention to this failure to protect her were focused on someone else. Awfully convenient.
kennycan,
Musharraf has about the same relationship with Pakistan’s ISI as Bush does with the CIA: barely veiled hostility and sabotage. Bush at least doesn’t have evidence the CIA and AQ are working together…yet.
Agreed. I think she realized that Musharraf couldn’t ensure her safety and would have her own trusted security arrangements.
I think someone in her own inner circle, someone she trusted, sold her out to AQ and the ISI.
Side Note - given the ISI’s relationship with the Taliban and AQ’s subsequent co-opting of the Taliban, separating the ISI from AQ is like splitting hairs.
Musharraf can barely keep himself alive. I remember earlier this year it seemed like every two months there was another attempt on his life.
