Wow. The combination of FIRE + blogs proved to be too much for the University of Delaware.
This isn’t surprising. With FIRE to provide the necessary legal firepower (these sorts of petty tyrannies thrive best when effective opposition is cowed or non-existent) and the blogosphere to add the bright glare of publicity to their offenses, these paper chase tigers tend to collapse quite quickly.
Which doesn’t mean they won’t crawl out of their holes and try again later, when attention has shifted.

In a way, it’s a shame this did not turn into a much bigger deal. Because they cracked so quickly, we lost the chance to spread this around. Even in the blogosphere it came and went so quickly some folks never covered it at all.
Which is unfortunate. Because, as you say, they’ll wait until the heat is off, slap a new coat of paint on their indoctrination program, and try again. They will never, ever stop. They never have and never will.
You can’t say that for sure. After all, Nicolae Ceaucescu stopped.
