Jon Henke, a long-time libertarian presence in the blogosphere, and currently on the Thompson payroll, blogs Fred’s first debate appearance. Leaving aside the obvious bias, it sounds as if Thompson handled himself pretty well.
They say they’ll have some video up later. If so, I’ll post the links.

You something? I really want to like Hugh Hewitt. And most of the time I do. But his water carrying for all of the RINOs with his “Just Win, Baby1″ GOPism makes me ill. I clicked over to his site for his review of the debate. I knew who he would say won, but I was still stuck staring at my screen for a few moments:
Giuliani and Romney win, going away.
Umm, let me clear: they were both solid. So was Fred. However, if Fred wins the nomination, Hugh will look like a moron for his “the only three possible presidents are Clinton, Romney or Giuliani” comment a little while back.
To be fair, I believe that either Romney or Giuliani will be the Veep on the ticket. Then again, I’m in no mood to be fair to Hugh these days.
Thompson did okay, but I think it may be another debate or two before he hits his stride. At times he appeared off balance a bit, nothing severe. Others on the stage were obviously more comfortable, just another debate like those before. MSNBC did a mostly credible job but Chris Matthews just couldn’t contain himself towards the end, he just had to ask some loaded questions of the “have you stopped beating your wife” variety. Putz. My attention was focused on Fred. I saw a little ring rust but nothing of real concern, he has plenty of time to kick ass & take names.
