Gaza is the home base, the hive, the sanctuary of Hamas, which is an organisation that is dedicated to the extermination of the Jewish nation. And yet that same Jewish nation is supplying electric power to Gaza. And now they’re talking in belligerent tones about cutting it off. This is insane. It is as if the UK were running an oil pipeline to Schleswig-Holstein during World War II. I would like to think that the very first thing a nation state would do against an enemy that publicly cries for its elimination would be to say, “no electricity for you!” But given that Israel is a special case—the one nation in the Middle East apparently steeped in original sin—any attempt to deny its antagonists the means of its extirpation is itself considered an affront against decency.
I don’t see a palatable way out of this impasse. I would commend, however, the Samsonic approach (particularly appropriate since the temple that Samson brought down was in what is known as Gaza). Every time a Qassam rocket lands in Israel, counter-battery fire identifies the launch point, and then a regiment of M270 MLRS rocket artillery eradicates all life in the grid square whence came the Palestinian rocket. It’s hard to see how much more vilified Israel could be in the West, and if there’s one thing we do know, it’s that Arab terrorists are strongly dissuaded by catastrophic casualties.

Oh, that’s easy. Cut it off. Cut it off of every Palestinian man and boy. It’d take a generation, but the problem would be solved.
(Kinder to just kill them cleanly, but kindness shouldn’t be a guiding principle in dealing with terrorists and their supporters. And for the hypothetical moderate Palestinian, wow, sucks to be you. Guess you should have spoken up when it might have made a difference.)
