Will Iraq Kick Out Blackwater? - TIME
However, the Iraqi official also said he had spoken with at least two cabinet members about yesterday’s shooting and that some in the government have “been upset about Blackwater for a while now. They want them to get out,” said the advisor. The State Department said Secretary Rice called prime minister Maliki on Monday is expected to occur later on Monday. She expressed her regret for the loss of life in the incident, assuring him that the U.S. will conduct its own investigation and inform the Iraqi government of its progress. House Oversight Committee Chairman Henry Waxman announced Monday he will launch an investigation into the incident as well, calling it “an unfortunate demonstration of the perils of excessive reliance on private security contractors.”
I think Chairman Waxman should be forced to spend the next three months in Iraq under the official protection of government forces.
Iraqi government forces.

Another failed Army/Pres. Bush policy. Why was the country not stripped of it’s arms? Why are Iraqis allowed to walk around with weapons? Why is there no curfew? Playing nice with Muslims in the middle of a war is suicidal. This one thing convinced me a long time ago more than anything else that Pres. Bush is basically stupid.
We are supposedly trying to start a democracy(or republic), not a dictatorship.
…yeah, disarming the general populace is a great idea…we should do it here in the US too! That way the police wouldn’t have to worry about armed crime…we’d be as peaceful as Merry Olde England!
[If your sarcasm meter hasn’t broken off at the peg by now, please have it serviced immediately.]
More usefully: besides genes comment above, there’s also the fact that an armed populace is more likely to resist foreign incursions AFTER we’ve left as well. [Iran, Syria, Al-Q leftovers, Saudi agents, blah, blah blah]
