Thompson: Due process for bin Laden - Yahoo! News
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Republican presidential contender Fred Thompson said Monday that while Osama bin Laden needs to be caught and killed, the terrorist mastermind would get the due process of law.
I don’t see what the problem is with this - although even some on the right seem a bit ruffled.
We didn’t even shoot Saddam out of hand when we captured him (although if we had, I wouldn’t have been terribly bothered), but that said, unless you are suggesting that should be a policy with Osama, I don’t see what else Thompson could have said.
And I don’t think Thompson would be terribly upset, either, if bin Laden was gunned down in a firefight, or permanently turned into rubble with a well-aimed bomb.

I think killing Bin Laden at first sight could be considered due process, don’t you?
Me, I think “Shoot on sight”, or “Bomb where known” would be the correct policy.
I would support capture only if he were to be caged with wild hogs for what little remained of his life, then buried by menustrating women, facing away from mecca, in a vat of pig guts. That would do it.
Stripped and shackled, then locked in a pen of boars. Who had been given Viagra.
You’d have to get the boars really drunk first, though.
I was feeling gloomy scrolling down DP until I read Steve’s and Clayton’s comments. Thanks for the very welcome guffaws.
